The first squad of Corpse Thralls for my Necromancy Cult. I'll probably go with the same palette for the next squad - Assault Squad Space Marines from Forge World. I reckon I'll paint about five squads of Corpse Thralls, all different races, each led by a Necromancer. These will have a Devilfish when I can be arsed to build/paint it.
The bases are made from offcuts of Sapele from my brother's workshop.
I came across this on The Bolter and Chainsword a few months ago when I was looking for possible 40K undead ideas. I'm pretty much basing my army on this extract I read in one of the forums...
The Dark Heresy RPG book Disciples of the Dark Gods describes Resurrectionist/Revivicator cults and various individuals such as hereteks that are known to pursue such contrivances, either through forbidden technology (human or xeno), strange engineered viruses, or the use of warpcraft rituals in a manner similar to Daemon summoning.
The AdMech attaches the term Anima Mori to any tech-lore that can be used to revive the dead to life, also known as corpse-thralls, carrionates, the walking dead, and the Risen. Some are little more than shambling, rotting cadavers like the plague zombies, some are more akin to servitors, and some even retain their self-will and are nigh indistinguishable from regular human beings, except for features such as pale skin, an avoidance of light, telltale signs of surgery, and exuding a horrid soullessness like that of an Untouchable.
I'm going to buy this Dark Heresy RPG book too. It looks amazing.
